The team behind the UX Concept compact SUV has focused on providing a three-dimensional driver experience with help from hologram-style tech. The overall body looks smaller than those of the Lexus NX and RX, supporting information from sources that the model previews a production auto that’ll replace the CT200h.

“The bold UX Concept design embodies imaginative and forward-thinking technologies to provide occupants with a fully immersive experience”, said Lexus. Lexus has said the auto features “imaginative technologies for an immersive driver experience”, and that the interior mixes traditional craftsmanship with high-tech manufacturing techniques. It was created to offer progressive customers who live and work in an ever-connected environment an innovative, three-dimensional driver experience. There’s a holographic display that combines analogue and digital information to present the user with air conditioning, infotainment, music, etc. – drivers can interact with at the touch of their fingertips.

Lexus has released a second teaser image of its UX concept, which will be the second show auto to preview an all-new compact SUV that will slot below its mid-size NX crossover.

The sci-fi continues with electro-chromatic windows, and door mirrors that have been replaced by e-mirror camera housings.

Electrostatic switchgear housed beneath transparent covers takes the place of regular interior buttons – but Lexus has given no word yet on how the system can be operated without becoming a magnet for smudgy fingerprints. Finally, the fin motif used on the A pillar is repeated on the dashboard, a demountable sound bar built into the passenger side.
