The performance was widely mocked on social media.

The fashion designer exhibited his latest collection last week but his show was remembered not for the stylish garments on display, but because the models-including A-listers Kendall Jenner, Jourdan Dunn, Gigi Hadid and Irina Shayk-sported multicolored dreadlocks, leading critics to accuse Jacobs of “cultural appropriation”.

People magazine and other outlets report that Feldman said in a since-deleted Facebook Live video that the criticism has been “really painful” and that he’s “never had such mean things said about me”. They could have been used on his adorable famous dog, Neville Jacobs, and no one would have cared if it was at least acknowledged that this was a decision inspired by and futhermore made possible by the sheer existence Black culture. Appreciation of all and inspiration from anywhere is a attractive thing.

Though at first, Marc was defensive about his aesthetic choice, the designer has since issued a formal apology on his Instagram account, claiming he now understands the point his fans were trying to make. I’m sorry to read that so many people are so narrow minded.Love is the answer. “In the caption, Jacobs continued: “…and I thank you for expressing your feelings”. I wholeheartedly believe in freedom of speech and freedom to express oneself though art, clothes, words, hair, music… He must really be feeling some intense heat still because he goes on to say, “Nothing is gained from spreading hate by name calling and bullying”.
