Gas Prices Down This Week

Arizona, AZ, September 12- Average retail gasoline prices in Arizona have not moved in the past week, averaging $2.09/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 2,269 gas outlets in Arizona.

Prices are 12.8 cents lower compared to this time past year but 3.4 cents higher than a month ago.

Bay Area gas prices climbed to an average of $2.77 per gallon over the past month as refineries failed to keep pace with strong demand, AAA officials announced Monday. The fuel has fewer additives making it cheaper to produce than the summer blend.

Springfield has the lowest price in the state at $1.99 a gallon, while Chicago has the highest at $2.65 per gallon. After rallying in August, the global oil benchmark, which is closely tied to the price of USA gasoline, hovered near $48 a barrel this morning. Prices rose the most in Utah (five cents), California (five cents), Hawaii (four cents), Alaska (four cents) and Washington (four cents).

Cleveland- $2.04/g, down 5.6 cents per gallon from last week’s $2.09/g. Pressures on operations in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico from Tropical Storm Hermine are starting to spill over to the consumer level for gasoline.

States on the West Coast, which together make up the most expensive market in the country, are feeling pain at the pump because of limited supplies. That’s a drop from $2.16 a week ago and from $2.10 last month.

Gasoline prices statewide have fallen by 10 cents per gallon in the past week, AAA Michigan reports.

Prices in Washington, D.C., New Jersey, Philadelphia, New York City, Boston area are set to continue their modest decline as this major area switches back to cheaper winter gasoline effective this Friday.
