Transistor radios were common among fans attending a Dodgers game at the Coliseum, making Scully and partner Jerry Doggett the regular voices of the Dodgers. His 67 years with the Dodgers make Scully the longest-tenured broadcaster with a single team in professional sports.

He will bid farewell to his iconic career in San Francisco on October 2, during his last Dodgers-Giants broadcast at AT&T Park.

“I will miss it”, he said Monday.

The Giants moved to five games back of the Dodgers with the win.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – The San Francisco Giants lost two important players Tuesday night and still managed a critical victory.

“My game plan, the way I pitch and the way I go about my business, is not something that I compromise from”. So I am uncomfortable having been pushed out into this spot.

“It’s going to be a dogfight the rest of the way”, Bochy said after his team snapped a three-game losing streak. “Yeah, the way he was throwing I figured Boch would leave him out there for the duration or at least let him go deep”.

Scully said of working a seasonal job at the post office, “We would spend all the time slotting and arguing about who was better, Duke Snider or Willie Mays”.

“I threw the ball well, but at the end of the day it was disappointing”, Hill said. “There were some balls hit hard with guys on base and just at guys”.

The bobblehead featured Scully with his hands over his heart thanking fans, depicting a warm moment from opening day this year.

As for the crowd, it was the largest in all of Major League Baseball since August 30, 2012, when 54,612 came out. Hill allowed just six hits and fanned seven batters in five solid innings, his shortest start as a Dodger. When I come to Dodger Stadium, for instance, I know the lady on the elevator, and when I get off the elevator, I know the men who run the press box, and then I see all my pals who are writers and fellow broadcasters and people who are all assigned to cover the game, and I really love all of that.

The Dodgers offense has taken a downturn in general in September, with three shutout losses in their last 10 games, and averaging just 3.94 runs per game.

Corey Seager doubled in the third, becoming the first Dodgers rookie to have 40 doubles in one season.
