Arkansas wins overtime thriller over TCU

In the second overtime, it was Allen reaching the end zone again on a quarterback keeper to win the game, a play that was almost identical to one he’d been stuffed on earlier in the game and one he scored on to give Fayetteville High School one of Allen’s two high school state championships in Arkansas.

Despite their inept play, the Frogs staged a spirited comeback with 21 fourth-quarter points to take a 28-20 lead with 2:05 remaining. However, a field goal for TCU in the second OT gave way to Arkansas’ Austin Allen to score on a five-yard quarterback keeper to win. Arkansas defeated TCU 41-38 in double overtime. The Oklahoma Sooners, the Oklahoma State Cowboys, and now the Horned Frogs have early non-conference defeats on the season. The teams traded touchdowns in the 1st overtime before Arkansas stepped up on defense to hold TCU to a field goal.

Pumphrey carried San Diego State to a 45-40 victory over California, rushing for 281 yards and three scores on 29 carries.

No. 16 Iowa 42, Iowa State 3: IOWA CITY, Iowa – C.J. Beathard passed for 235 yards and three touchdowns and the Hawkeyes (2-0) earned their biggest win over the Cyclones in 18 seasons under coach Kirk Ferentz.

Despite the rest of the offense going silent, sophomore running back Rawleigh Williams III has emerged as the top running back. He then grabbed a 43-yard pass on the very next play.

At the end of the first half, Arkansas had a 13-0 lead and appeared to be on its way to a shocking victory. I started seeing all sorts of “game over” notes during TCU’s big 4th quarter run.

However, TCU didn’t remain scoreless for long.

“You feel like you gave one away”, TCU coach Gary Patterson said.

Austin Allen did not back down, and found Keon Hatcher with a minute left to get within two. I think the Hogs are a better team coming out of the TCU victory than they were going into it.

The SEC named Arkansas junior quarterback Austin Allen SEC Player of the Week and senior offensive tackle Dan Skipper SEC Offensive lineman of the Week.

Kenny Hill, the new TCU quarterback, evolved from goat to hero in a matter of a half Saturday night against Arkansas.

Following Arkansas’ late touchdown and two-point conversion that tied the game at 28-28, TCU was able to get into field goal range for a game-winning attempt, but Skipper was able to come up with his sixth career block.

Now 2-0, Arkansas will look to keep up its winning ways next Saturday against Texas State before SEC play begins on the road one week later versus Texas A&M. I thought those (TCU defensive) ends we played were very good. “Maybe now people will take notice”.

The Horned Frogs scored a touchdown early in the fourth quarter to pull within six and it looked like an instant classic was brewing.

Officials interpreted Hill making a throat-slashing gesture after he scored with just over 2 minutes left in regulation and handed out a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty to the Horned Frogs. Like every game where there’s 75 plays or whatever, there’s a couple that we’d like to change. “Like the celebration at the end of the touchdown”.

Saturday’s dramatic, see-saw, double-overtime 41-38 win at No. 15 TCU was a different-flavored win for the Hogs, and Bielema’s face told the story. I know that after a Hogs victory, a little massage, and a bottle of Old English, all will be in harmony again.
