India reacts strongly to Sharif’s speech at UN
He said Pakistan is a peaceful country and peaceful neighbourhood is the vision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who has demanded the United Nations to implement its resolutions on Kashmir. “This organisation is widely acknowledged as a terrorist group internationally”.

In a speech that dwelled in most parts on the contentious Kashmir dispute, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday night at the General Debate of the 71st Session of the UN General Assembly accused India of brutally repressing an “indigenous uprising of the Kashmiris”.
“Peace and normalisation between India and Pakistan can’t be achieved without discussion on Jammu and Kashmir”, Sharif was quick to add.
Sharif also raked up the Burhan Wani issue and said he was a young leader murdered by Indian forces.
“India and Pakistan stand to benefit from practical cooperation, and we encourage them to engage in direct dialogue aimed at reducing tensions”, the official said.
Referring to Sharif’s speech, he reminded everyone that nearly 50 countries have spoken at the UNGA until now, but no one referred to the issue (Kashmir) that Sharif devoted 80 percent of his speech to.
“We heard the glorification of a terrorist. Shows continued Pak attachment to terrorism”, Swarup said referring to Sharif’s address at the United Nations that prompted India to go for a full blown diplomatic counter offensive. “A new generation of Kashmiris has risen spontaneously against India’s illegal occupation – demanding freedom from occupation”, he said.
Causing another major embarrassment for Pakistan, the US Secretary of State John Kerry has asked the alleged sponsors of the Uri terror attack to take action against the perpetrators and snubbed its rant for Kashmir, giving India the much needed support for isolating Pakistan internationally. In reply Indian ambassador Alok Ranjan Jha lashed out at Pakistani envoy by replying them that “the country torturing Balochi people should not be crying for human rights violations in our territory”. Reiterating that Pakistan “fully supports Kashmir’s right to self-determination”, Sharif without any hint of irony suggested that his country “has been the principal victim of terrorism, including that is supported, sponsored, financed from overseas”.
The U.S.is committed to its strong partnership with the Indian government to combat terrorism, the official added.
“With the approval of authorities, many terrorist organisations raise funds openly in flagrant violation of Pakistan’s global obligations”, Gambhir said. “The worst violation of human rights is terrorism”, she said.
“Today, from this rostrum, I would also like to reiterate our offer to India to enter into a serious and sustained dialogue for the peaceful resolution of all outstanding disputes, especially Jammu and Kashmir”, Sharif said. It worsened since the Uri terror attack for which India has blamed Pakistan.
India rejected Sharif’s remarks in a statement to the UN General Assembly from Eenam Gambhir, a senior diplomat at its UN mission.

Sharif also strongly criticized what he called India’s suppression of protests in the disputed Kashmir region and called for an independent investigation into extrajudicial killings and what he called “brutalities”.
