In a surprise last-minute announcement, FYF Fest has dropped Frank Ocean from its lineup as Saturday’s headliner and replaced him with an even bigger draw: Kanye West. But they’ve found a pretty strong replacement.
Days before the 2015 installment of the festival was due to kick off, reps for the festival announced the R&B crooner “decided on his own terms to cancel his appearance”. Neither the album nor the publication were released last month.
There’s no word as to the details behind Ocean’s cancellation, but his more optimistic fans are hopeful that it means he’s choosing to focus on his long-awaited follow-up album to 2012′s critically acclaimed Channel Orange.
In the spring, the singer took to Tumblr to post a picture of himself looking down at a stack of magazines called Boys Don’t Cry.
Similarly, West’s album after Yeezus is expected sometime this year, but there is no firm release date.
This will be West’s first appearance at FYF and first L.A. area performance since headlining KIIS-FM’s Wango Tango festival in May of this year.

EW’s request for comment from Ocean’s camp was not immediately returned.
