Is the iPhone 7 Plus hissing at some users?

The first one in line to buy the iPhone 7 in the UAE was 22-year-old Ahmed Alhajri, who flew out all the way from Saudi Arabia and waited 10 hours outside of the store.

YouTube channel EverythingApplePro posted a video over the weekend demonstrating how the iPhone 7 fares in an extreme deep water test. I don’t believe Apple put a fan inside their latest iPhone 7, but then again, who knows?

If your brand new iPhone is making a hissing noise, don’t worry. After contacting Apple Care, he was advised to look for a replacement at a later date, but not today, as Apple is struggling with its inventory, or a lack there of.

Though the company is yet to clarify its stance, if the number of complaints rise, the sales might get delayed in a few markets including India.

Starting today, customers with an iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, and iPhone 6s Plus can trade-up their existing handset for an iPhone 7 and get up to $315 for turning in their old device.

The noise was first noticed by Stephen Hackett of 512 Pixels fame, and was corroborated by a lot of other users, including some major tech industry types. It has been learnt that the new A10 Fusion processor might be the reason since the sound only comes when large programs are being processed.

By Hackett’s account, his iPhone 7 began hissing when restoring it from iCloud. Been hearing hissing noises from your device when using it for power-intensive applications?

Some are saying this could be on the processor’s problem while some suggest maybe the hissing sound is kind of a cooling system for the device. In Hackett’s case, it offered to replace his phone.

Apple is yet to comment officially on the claims.

The accompanying tagline for the new advert reads: “The all-new iPhone 7, with low-light camera”.
