One person dies in crash involving ambulance

Sandra Cline died from her injuries, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Bluethmann failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the ambulance in the side, causing the ambulance to overturn.

Around 7:20 p.m., Ohio State Highway Patrol Fremont Post troopers were called to the intersection of County Road 197 and State Route 19 for a crash.

“She was unconcious”, Powell said.

Bluethmann, the SUV driver, Chris Nelson, 42, a member of the LifeStar ambulance crew and the ambulance crew’s patient, Toni Johnson, 45, also were transported to nearby hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Cline was transported by Life Flight to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, and was pronounced dead at 12:28 a.m. Friday.

Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Fremont Post were called to the scene around 7:21 p.m. on September 22.

Three other people, including two passengers in the ambulance, also were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Bluethmann was taken to Fremont Memorial Hospital.

An ambulance driver who was seriously injured when the EMS vehicle she was driving was struck by a sport utility vehicle that had run a stop sign near this Sandusky County community has died, authorities said.

The crash remains under investigation and possible charges are pending.

State troopers said Cline might have been thrown from the vehicle during the crash.
