Google launches smart messaging app Allo

After a lengthy wait, Google Allo is now available for download on Android and iOS.

Before sending the photos, the users can also use stickers and scribble on them. Similar to Gmail, Allo messages will be encrypted between the user’s device and Google servers. Earlier in May, Google had stated that Allo will keep only temporary message logs.

But things may be about to change as one of the world’s biggest tech companies is launching a rival messaging app that could make a dent in WhatsApp’s dominance. Don’t fret because the process is gradual and soon you will have the app available in your local Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Google Allo offers a rich canvas for users to express themselves.

Just like WhatsApp, Google Allo makes use of your phone number to track your friends.

“The more you use your Assistant, the more useful it becomes by remembering preferences and other information you ask it to”, Google said in a blog post. Some of the additional features of Allo are the better range of stickers, doodles, and HUGE emojis and text.

Google Allo also includes the inbuilt Google Assistant which allows for in-app searches while chatting, so you can answer trivia questions or find directions or whatever else you might otherwise do with a regular Google search.

The latter means you can bring info from across the web into chats without having to leave Allo and search Chrome or another web browser.

Google Allo will be launched on September 21
