AMC Hopes ‘The Walking Dead’ Lasts As Long As ‘Star Trek’

Fans of Norman Reedus, it’s time to rejoice.

In a recent statement, Joel Stillerman commented on the series and its exciting future.

As for the actor himself, Norman was stoked to learn he could continue his road-trip across America. At 158 issues strong, the franchise shows no sign of slowing down either, and according to AMC network president Josh Sapan, the same can also be said for the live-action TV series. “I am glad to be able to show audiences a different side of me, and we have gotten a great response to the candid conversation and the fact that it’s obviously not scripted”. “I think it is just a careful evaluation of content, and we have a pretty good infrastructure … and increasingly, the ability to command attention and market these shows”.

The Walking Dead is back next month for Season 7 and IGN has the debut of new character photos for the show. We’ve even heard vague suggestions of The Walking Dead continuing indefinitely, as with its comic inspiration, but AMC boss Josh Sapan took things a step further to proclaim their flagship horror-drama as an endlessly renewal franchise, a la Star Trek. Rather than prolonging Breaking Bad, the network ended the show at five seasons and followed it up with Better Call Saul, which has achieved its own acclaim.

The Walking Dead is slated to return for its seventh season October 23, a mark many television showrunners never even dream of reaching.
