Apple Takes Bite at McLaren, May Make Move To Acquire

The newspaper had cited three unnamed sources saying the iPhone maker was looking at a potential takeover of or investment in McLaren, which could be valued at up to £1.5 billion (1.7 billion euros, $1.9 billion). Well today it looks as if Apple may be taking a step towards that direction as the word comes down that Apple Reportedly In Talks To Purchase McLaren.

“We can confirm that McLaren is not in discussion with Apple in respect of any potential investment”, a spokesperson told AFP.

McLaren builds supercars such as the P1, which costs about £866,000, and also develops technology for the healthcare, energy and transport industries.

McLaren, which is loss-making, specialises in auto-engineering and is best known for its Formula One racing team and high-end luxury sports cars.

One of the latest leaks seems to suggest that Apple could be about to buy McLaren.

The company is based in Woking, Surrey, in headquarters designed by Norman Foster.
