Was he exhausted of talking about the George Washington Bridge scandal, WFAN host Craig Carton asked on Tuesday?
Impeachment proceedings could easily stretch on for months, and Christie’s term ends in January 2018.
Former Christie aides testified in federal court this week that the administration’s nominally non-partisan Office of Intergovernmental Affairs kept a running tally of government aid dispersed to towns run by Democratic mayors Christie’s re-election campaign had been courting.
He has also foreshadowed a potential next act as a media figure by going on sports radio, something he’s done increasingly lately.
The trial in New Jersey’s “Bridgegate” scandal got underway this past week. The panel in a December 2014 report said it could not conclude if Christie was or was not personally involved in the closings. Wildstein pleaded guilty past year to conspiracy charges and has been cooperating with prosecutors.
Christie, whose name is on a list of potential witnesses who may be called to testify, insists there’s nothing new to be learned about his involvement and instead spent the week touring the state.
“You’re four or five days into a case”, he said of the federal trial.
Matt Mowers (MOW’-ers) could testify for the prosecution Thursday. Kelly and Baroni claim Wildstein orchestrated the lane-closing scheme, which created traffic gridlock.
Earlier this month, Christie acknowledged to MSNBC that the bridge scandal was likely a factor in Trump passing him over for vice president. A removal vote would need the support of two-thirds of state Senators – meaning three Republicans would also need to vote in favor of kicking Christie out of office, assuming all Democrats voted against Christie, NBC New York reported.
Defense attorneys have characterized Wildstein as Christie’s hatchet man at the agency.
In addition, Foye testified Wednesday that Baroni told him on September 13, 2013, the day Foye ordered the traffic lanes reopened, that “senior staff” in Trenton had been briefed about the closures.
Christie staffers ranked officials on their likelihood of endorsing Christie from one to ten, with ten being the most likely. Kelly sent an email the next day saying, “Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee”.

Weinberg, who co-chaired the Legislature’s Joint Select Committee on Investigations with Wisniewski, said Friday that trial testimony showed the panel had more work to do. “(But it’s) water under the bridge”. He said people had mostly formed their opinions about Christie already.
