Mike Zimmer: Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson has torn meniscus

However instead of giving the Packers offense a chance to tie or win the game, Randall was called for pass interference and the Vikings were able to clinch a victory.

Adrian Peterson injury update: the Minnesota Vikings running back has what is known as a “bucket handle tear” and could be out 3-4 months. Zimmer doesn’t know the timetable for Peterson’s knee injury, but hasn’t ruled him out for Sunday’s road game against the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte.

Surgery isn’t always needed on a torn meniscus.

“We just didn’t really have anything going for us, ” veteran guard T.J. Lang said. As for Peterson, he rushed for 31 and 19 yards while averaging 1.6 per carry in each game.

After a very good performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars last week where he made a game-saving tackle in the fourth quarter, Green Bay Packers cornerback Damarious Randall had a rough night against the Minnesota Vikings which led to a 17-14 loss.

Many fans who watched Peterson being helped to the locker room on the TV broadcast probably feared a much more serious injury, as he did not put any weight on his leg.

I think both defensive lines will have success against their opponents offensive lines and the turnover battle will probably decide the victor of the Panthers and Vikings game. But Zimmer was optimistic after the game, saying Peterson, “might miss a week” only.

Peterson’s injury comes mere weeks after the Vikings watched starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater suffer a season-ending knee injury. “He’s got some things we’re looking at there, ” said McCarthy, who added there’s no initial concern about Matthews’ status.

“Our perimeter players, we need to get them more opportunities, too, ” McCarthy said.

“I don’t think we’re that far off, ” Rodgers said.

“Anytime you have a guy like that in a leadership role that does go down, obviously everyone kind of takes a step back”, defensive captain Brian Robison said. “So we’re going to keep plugging away”.
