Vincent Kompany out of Swansea clash
Club captain Kompany was playing his first game in six months on Wednesday, having recovered from groin surgery, as City won 2-1 at Swansea City in the League Cup third round.

Pep Guardiola’s ideal start at Manchester City suffered a rare setback when Vincent Kompany was injured in midweek, but prolific Sergio Aguero returns for the Premier League leaders at Swansea today.
Although the club has remained quiet on a return date, they revealed – with relief – that it was not a recurrence of the calf problem that blighted his campaign last season.
Guardiola is known to have expressed doubts about keeping Kompany when he took over due to the player’s injury record, and the latest setback after exhaustive attempts to get to the root of his chronic muscle problems will only fuel concerns that his days at the Etihad are numbered.
Swans defender Jordi Amat accepts his side are about to embark on a tricky sequence of games in their quest for Premier League points.
However, when City face Francesco Guidolin’s team for the second time in four days at the Liberty Stadium today, they will have Aguero.
“We could have gone back on Wednesday night or Thursday morning but, the day after we would have had to come back again”, he explained.
The 53-year-old first lost to the Spaniard’s Manchester City at Old Trafford, then against Feyenoord in the UEFA Europa League, before surprisingly going down at Watford.
“For many colleagues, at the moment, they aren’t winning, and it isn’t fair what happens with them”.
“It is impossible to win all of the games”.
“The most important thing with Kelechi is his sense of the goal in the box”, he said.
Man City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan hailed team-mate Aguero as player of rare quality as the striker prepares to return this weekend.

The German said: “I am happy about the start, it is better still than I hoped”.
