Victor Cruz likely to sit out Jaguars game

It looks as though New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz won’t play in Saturday night’s preseason game against the Jaguars. He appeared in 46 of a potential 48 regular-season games while emerging as quarterback Eli Manning’s favorite target over that stretch.

The Giants’ star receiver was enjoying an impressive comeback from last year’s torn patellar knee tendon.

In 2011 Victor Cruz burst onto the national scene as New York’s latest athlete superstar.

Co-workers. You can’t live with them (I’m not talking about any of my beloved co-laborers; they’re all splendid humans), but you can’t get paid if you don’t learn how to peaceably live one-third of your life with them. “It’s something I can get over, and something that’s not going to be a huge hindrance”.

Cruz has impressed Giants offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo with his performance this summer. “He came out early on and didn’t seem tentative at all about sticking his foot in the ground”. He played in just six games before the injury, and it wasn’t clear how long it would take for him to get back to full strength.

Coughlin did admit to concern with practice time missed by receivers, Randle in particular.

There has been nothing but positivity surrounding Cruz to this point, considering he hadn’t missed a practice since training camp began July 31, and Wednesday’s absence is not believed to have changed that feeling. Special teams coordinator Tom Quinn said the goal for his group this year is to improve on punt returns and coverage….

“No, not at all, ” Coughlin said.
