Google Has Reneged On A Big Allo Privacy Feature

These messages will exist until the user does not manually delete them which means that Google is going to have access to the entire history of conversations in Allo.

The overall text messaging features and registration process to use Allo is quite similar to what other apps have been doing. The app will be available for both Android and iOS users.

Google Allo does this by suggesting responses from various different ones built into the app.

Google previously said that Allo will only store messages transiently and in non-identifiable form, however, the version of Allo that has been released today stores all non-incognito messages by default.

According to Android Police, if you’ve already used WhatsApp, you will feel an eery resemblance to Allo from the first moment you try out the app.

“Now users no longer need to leave a conversation with friends just to grab an address, or share a YouTube video, or pick a dinner spot”.

Google Allo users can also adjust the size of text being sent by sliding the “Send” button up and down. Deleting the app itself from my iPhone also deleted all the content of the conversations I was having – but again, if my friends didn’t delete those chats, they’re still out there on Google’s servers. Some have criticized that for making encryption something that needs to be turned on and for making it seem shady, but it is the only way to keep Google from reading the conversations that are being had on the new platform. Users can also chat in Incognito mode, which would have end-to-end encryption and have additional privacy features like discreet notifications and message expiration.

Respond to messages without typing a single word.

Additionally, users can interact with Google Assistant.

You can download Allo from Google Play and Apple’s App Store, though you may have to wait a bit, as this is a gradual rollout. Aside from that, Google Assistant certainly looks like it has promise.
