Vikings put Peterson on IR; Kalil has labral surgery on hip
Team physician Chris Larson performed the surgery at Twin Cities Orthopedics.

Peterson will still have value to teams, including the Vikings.
Peterson was injured in Sunday night’s victory over Green Bay.
While none of those three have anything close to the resume of Peterson, they all bring different things to the table that can help them be effective as a group. Rodgers and the rest of the offense looked out of sync in last week’s loss at Minnesota.
The Vikings also put left tackle Matt Kalil on injured reserve. The rehab process for a repaired meniscus often takes three to four months, meaning Peterson could miss most, if not all, of the 14 games the Vikings have left in the regular season.
Recovery from a meniscus fix varies, but can take up to three to four months, and possibly as long as six. “We know it’s going to be a hard-fought game for four quarters”.
And the Vikings were ranked 28th in the league in offense with the best running back of his era on the field.
On Wednesday, the Vikings signed running back Ronnie Hillman, who was with the Broncos when they won the Super Bowl last season.
“It could be season ending”, Zimmer said. And the Vikings probably will need him to be an offensive centerpiece now that so much depends on Bradford and the passing game.
On Wednesday, a source told ESPN that Peterson also had a torn lateral collateral ligament. McCarthy, though, called that perhaps overly optimistic, saying a fix likely would sideline Peterson for six or more months. The Vikings must make a call on his contract about two months after that. Next season he is due $11.75 million plus a $6 million roster bonus due in March.
It’s the latest in a long line of injuries for the Vikings this season.
For now, Zimmer is confident of the Vikings (2-0) continuing to play well without Peterson. I know everybody is all concerned about we don’t have this or we don’t have that, but it’s a team.
“I have great confidence in Aaron”, McCarthy said before practice Wednesday when asked how his veteran quarterback bounces back from subpar games. After gaining just 31 yards on 19 carries in Week 1 against Tennessee, Peterson gained only 19 yards on 12 carries against the Packers.
“Obviously, it’s hard to replace a player like Adrian”, Bradford said. Although no official timetable has been released for his return, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported he may not be back until December at the earliest. “It’s just the next man up”.
“You hear plays that sound similar to one ones that [you’ve heard before] but there are still times where it’s going to happen fast and you might forget. You just got to get over it and move on”.
Initial X-rays on the foot showed no broken bones but Abdullah went to Charlotte, North Carolina, on Tuesday for a second opinion with specialist Dr. Robert Anderson, according to ESPN. After the game, Peterson left the locker room in a brace and on crutches.

“This team, to me, is resilient”, Zimmer told reporters.
