UN Secretary-General extends greetings for Eid Al Adha

And now the second Eid – Eid al-Adha, meaning Festival of the Sacrifice – has been confirmed as starting on Monday, September 12, which is the 10th day in the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hiijah. Some worshippers will also slaughter an animal such as a sheep or goat to echo Ibrahim’s sacrifice. They also wear new clothes, visit family members and friends and may symbolically sacrifice an animal in an act known as qurbani.

People thronged mosques and idgahs in the national capital to offer prayers of Eid-ul-Azha this morning.

CELEBRATIONS of Eid have been extended into the community to help those in need.

Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court announced in an official statement that Eid al-Adha will begin on Monday, September 12, and the Day of Arafah, which precedes the Eid festival, will be on Sunday September 11. But the Almighty Allah in His benign mercy spared Hazrat Ismail (AS) and instead sent a ram to be sacrificed.

Muslims across the Arab world celebrated the start of Eid al-Adha festival, which marks the end of the Hajj pilgrimage.

Millions of fortunate Muslims perform the Hajj Pilgrimage on this day, and many hundreds of millions of people will perform the important task, i.e., Qurbani (sacrifice) in order to show their devotion and obedience towards Allah (SWT). Muslim leaders said the Eid is about making personal sacrifices and wishing happiness to everyone regardless of their beliefs. I always hug them with my prayers.

More than 1.8 million Muslim pilgrims are taking part in the Hajj this year in the Saudi holy city of Mecca
