Vikings Peterson undergoes successful knee surgery

The feeling must be growing that the time approaches where the Minnesota Vikings may have to pull the plug on the Peterson era. Coming into 2016 they had full expectations he’d remain one of the focal points for their offense. He has his work cut out for him going forward, with Peterson-out with a torn meniscus-joining No. 1 quarterback Teddy Bridgewater on the team’s injury list.

“I didn’t even know he was hurt”, Fackrell said, “until I got up and went back to – not the huddle – but went back and got ready for the next play, and he was still on the ground”.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Peterson’s timeline for return would not be determined until the surgery, when a doctor could assess the extent of the damage. Garoppolo had been pegged as the starter until Brady is allowed to return in Week 5, but he suffered a Grade 2 AC joint sprain in the team’s Week 2 win over the Miami Dolphins. “That’s all I’ve ever done since I’ve been here”.

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson underwent knee surgery Thursday and will begin rehabbing immediately. Tackle Matt Kalil was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, and Zimmer said he will have hip surgery and is likely out for the season. In Las Vegas sports books, the win bordered on the historic, where the Vikings are on the best against-the-spread run we’ve seen in a decade. The rookie had a breakout game Sunday, scoring two touchdowns in a 25-20 loss to the Ravens.

McKinnon is an accomplished receiver out of the backfield, an area that Peterson never mastered.

To keep things moving toward the playoffs, the Vikings will have to keep Bradford upright.

“Whether it’s me, Matt, or whoever’s in the game, we feed off each other throughout the week”, McKinnon said. Peterson was injured in Sunday night’s, September 18 victory over Green Bay.

The three-time Pro Bowler has caught nine passes for 142 yards in two games this season. Instead, they’ll game-plan to confound Bradford, Diggs, and the Minnesota passing game, dialing up pressure and sitting over the top with an additional safety in coverage.

“That’s our identity and that’s how we’re built”. “Hopefully we can play good defense and hopefully we can run the ball. We’re not going to change and go to like five wides every play”.

Zimmer is a defensive-minded coach, and he has his unit playing at a high level early in the season.

The Minnesota Vikings (2-0) defeated the Green Bay Packers (1-1) in the opening game at U.S Bank Stadium Sunday night, 17-14. Depending on how fast he heals, there is a slight chance he may have played his last game with the Vikings. Though this could be the best defense the Panthers will face this season. “This is a tough time right now in our community and our city, and we need something that’s going to bring people together with all that’s going on right now”.

Tomorrow’s NFL game in Charlotte between the Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Vikings will go ahead as planned despite North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory's declaration of a state of emergency following two nights of violent protests
