Peaceful protests in Karnataka over Cauvery water release
The apex court bench was critical of the language used in the fresh plea of Karnataka seeking to keep in abeyance the September 5 order asking it to release 15,000 cusecs water per day to Tamil Nadu.

“As I finally left Coimbatore for Bengaluru, I was stopped by Tamil Nadu police personnel who warned that they could not guarantee safety to my auto because of the Karnataka number plate”, the executive told IANS asking not to be named.

Meanwhile Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa announced release of water from Mettur Dam for Samba rice cultivation.
Following directions from the SC to Karnataka, 8.92 tmcft of water had been received at Biligundlu from Karnataka till September 14.

There have been huge protests in Karnataka and Tamilnadu, after the Supreme Court ordered that the state to release less water every day from the Cauvery to Tamil Nadu but for more number of days.
