Donald Trump: Drugs played ‘very big’ role in North Carolina protests
He added, “And if you’re not aware, drugs are a very, very big factor in what you’re watching on television at night”.

Following violent protests Wednesday in Charlotte, N.C., Donald Trump pilloried his opponent Hillary Clinton and her response to the demonstrations, claiming she helped stoke the fires of racial violence in the country.
House Speaker Paul Ryan ducked Thursday on whether he supports the “stop-and-frisk” policy pushed by Donald Trump.
“I felt like there was a pause”, she said. Galifianakis replied: “Or maybe a white power tie”.
“He says we got nothing left to lose, so we might as well support somebody who has fought against civil rights, and fought against equality, and who has shown no regard for working people for most of his life”.
Both presidential candidates are courting minority voters with Election Day less than seven weeks away. Last month, the “law and order” candidate said that he could stop the violence in “just one week”.
Trump’s latest comment is another in a very long list of remarks made by conservatives and others who don’t live in Chicago and haven’t spent much, if any, time in its neighborhoods.
On Thursday, Trump tried at times to project a softer message, calling for a nation united in “the spirit of togetherness”.
The anti-crime tactic in which police stop, question and search pedestrians for weapons or contraband, gained traction in New York City under Mayor Rudy Giuliani, now a top Trump supporter. “I think you have to”, said Trump.
Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said Trump’s words were addressing indiscriminate drug use and opiate addiction which is a serious concern for authorities and parents across the country. “In Charlotte, my hope is is that in the days to come, that people in the community pull together and say, how do we do this the right way?”
Clinton continues to struggle with young voters, as college students in Pennsylvania have their doubts about the Democratic nominee and former Bernie Sanders organizers on campus have not joined her campaign.
“It’s unbearable, and it needs to become intolerable”, she said in Orlando, Florida.
Clinton has campaigned alongside a group of black women called the “Mothers of the Movement”, who advocated for more accountability and transparency by law enforcement. Trump said at the Shale Insight Coalition conference here, where he was set to give a speech about his energy plan.
“African Americans, Jewish Americans, Irish-Americans and many others could not rent here, could not buy here”.
Peoples reported from Washington.
