A new Parkland Memorial Hospital quickly settled into the routines of its predecessors.

A hospital statement says the new 2.1 million-square-foot structure is almost twice the size of the current hospital and has 862 single-patient rooms. The old facility had become overcrowded and outdated, requiring a new facility to provide better care to patients.
The move will be completed by Saturday, at which point Parkland officials will announce how many patients were moved along the Mike A. Meyers Skybridge.

The new Parkland Hospital is ready for patients! With $80 million spent on digital technology, it is now one of the most advanced hospitals in the country, a huge upgrade from the old Parkland, which was built in 1954 and was basically falling apart. The contents of that room are stored at a National Archives facility in Kansas. And the U.S. attorney’s office in Dallas in 2012 substantiated claims that the hospital billed the government for unnecessary physical rehab procedures. It is two years into a five-year corporate integrity agreement that has focused on billing problems and patient-safety concerns, The Dallas Morning News reports.
