“The commission while pursuing the files of the previous commission has discovered instances of gross financial irregularities and high misappropriation of government funds done by previous chairpersons, namely Barkha Shukla Singh and Kiran Walia, with some instances prima facie being carried out under directions of then Delhi chief minister Shiela Dikshit”, Ms Maliwal said in the complaint.

Shukla rejected the allegations against her and further alleged that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had asked her to go slow on cases against his party leaders Kumar Vishwas and Somnath Bharti. They have misused commission funds and they have been so pathetic that they have spent crores of rupees just for benefiting some companies. “During investigation, we found a Union Minister and a senior leader of a prominent party were providing protection to those involved in the flesh trade”, she told reporters here.
“Dikshit used to write to the Commission and used to say “Please give particular fund to a particular company” and without following any procedure the money was transferred to these particular companies”, she said.
“I am getting messages that don’t interfere in GB road issue and do whatever else you want, but even if I am removed from DCW I will continue to fight for this issue”, Maliwal said.
She added that the DCW had asked the North Delhi Municipal Corporation several times to demolish the illegal basements used to hide the trafficked girls.
Maliwal’s complaint comes days after the ACB registered an FIR against her in connection with alleged illegal recruitments in the women’s panel, on a complaint filed by Singh.
Taking a dig at DCW chief, Barkha Singh said that Ms Maliwal is remembering things only after she filed a complaint against her with the ACB. “… We were absolutely shocked by the corruption and meanness that these people displayed…”, said Maliwal.
“They have no proof, no criminal charges that are made out”.
“If there were irregularities, she should have filed a case against me earlier”, she said.
