India Reacts Sharply To Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif’s UNGA Speech
Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday raised the issue of Kashmir and accused India of human rights violations in the region during his address at the 71st UN General Assembly (UNGA) in NY. The 21-year-old Hizb-Ul-Mujahideen terrorist was an acknowledged terrorist, who caused constant upheaval by his illicit activities in Kashmir. Eenam Gambhir, First Secretary in the Permanent Mission to the United Nations, said: “The worst violation of human rights is terrorism”. Foreign minister Sushma Swaraj – who speaks on Monday – is also expected to give a “befitting” reply to Sharif.

Indian Minister of State for External Affairs M.J. Akbar on Thursday also expressed surprise over PM Nawaz Sharif’s reference to Burhan Wani as a “young leader” during his UNGA address a day earlier. This was in response to Sharif’s claims that Pakistan had “gone the extra mile and repeatedly offered dialogue”.MJ Akbar also commented that Pakistan wants dialogue while “holding a gun in its hand”. “Pakistan fully supports the demand of the Kashmiri people for self-determination, as promised to them by several Security Council resolutions. Over a hundred Kashmiris have been killed, hundreds, including children and infants, blinded by shotgun pellets and over six thousand unarmed civilians injured over the past two months”, he said. “We have always been ready for a dialogue, but we will not succumb to blackmail tactics (from) the government in Islamabad that seems eager to use terrorists and terrorism”. “When practised as an instrument of state policy it is a war crime”.
Asked if India was preparing any fresh dossier on Pakistan’s involvement in terrorist activities, Swarup said: “We don’t need a dossier; the whole world is aware of Pakistan’s role in promoting terror”.
