That easy mingling of philanthropy and politics has put the Clintons’ charity work under an election year microscope.

The story came to light after the release of a groundbreaking book by Peter Schweizer – called “Clinton Cash” – which uncovered a serious of State Department decisions that appeared to favor big Clinton Foundation donors.
“Maybe some of them gave money for that reason [to gain influence], but majority gave it because they liked what we were doing”, he said.
During an interview with NPR, which aired Monday, Clinton opened up the door to Republicans’ pay-to-play attacks by saying that some donors probably gave to the Clinton Foundation to gain greater influence with the Clintons, eyeing a Clinton White House 2.0.
“Everywhere today there is a temptation to say that everything I just told you is wrong, ‘Life is a zero-sum game and I’m losing; no, you’re wrong, our differences matter more than our common humanity, ‘” he said.
Two former Clinton Foundation officials – who remain in communication with staff – told Politico Wednesday that the foundation is preparing to lay off dozens of staffers at the end of the year.
Emails that emerged more recently made it clear that donors received special access and attention from Clinton and her top aides.
Former Secretary of State Madeline Albright moderated a panel that included both musician Bono and retired Marine Gen. John Allen.
Trump’s own charitable foundation has also faced scrutiny. And Khan voiced his support for Clinton’s candidacy last week.
“You’re stepping down from the [board of] the Foundation though”, CNBC said.
The vast majority of the three-day gathering is centered on the Clinton Foundation’s wide-ranging projects around the world.
“Only three stories – all on the morning news shows – suggested that the Clinton family should do anything more to avoid ethical problems if Clinton is elected president”, Ms. Nelson reported.

Supporters of the foundation say its work has been unnecessarily obscured by presidential politics.
