Fabregas returned to the Premier League in 2014 as the playmaker completed a £27m move to Arsenal’s bitter London rivals Chelsea.

Chelsea will be looking to atone for their home defeat against Liverpool – their first loss under Conte – in their last league match.

Ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Fabregas‘ former club, Arsenal, Conte refused to guarantee the 29-year-old a starting role.

“All my teammates deserve my respect, my coach deserves respect because I know he wants to win and if he doesn’t play me, there is always a reason”.

I think that it’s a special game for Cesc. “We know they are a risky team on the counter, which is what they did, but I think we showed great character, as I think we’ve been showing during the whole season”. He played a good game in the cup.

“It is a very special game against Arsenal”.

When Shinji Okazaki scored Leicester City’s second goal to make the score 2-0, the game looked beyond Chelsea’s reach.

“I think that Arsene Wenger is doing a good job, but it’s normal that, when every single year you fight for the title, you want to win”, said Conte. You can have worse days, you can have moments when maybe you’re not at your best, but I always give my best. “It’s important what the player feels”.

Deadline day signing David Luiz and Gary Cahill are expected to start in the centre of the Chelsea defence in Terry’s absence, while Conte has no other fresh injuries to contend with as he prepares to face Arsenal. “Hopefully, he can see what I’m doing and that I deserve to play”.

“It means we must improve and work together to improve the defensive situations”.
