Islamabad denied any involvement in the incident, which increased tensions, already high as a result of the “moral and diplomatic” support of the government of Nawaz Sharif for the demonstrators protesting on the Indian side of Kashmir since early July.

Tensions in Kashmir rose this week following an attack on September 18 on an Indian military base, where almost 20 Indian soldiers were killed.
