Gators plan a disciplined approach against Vols QB

The Vols hope to end that 11 year old losing streak this Saturday.

Campus Insiders’ Florida Gators football insider Chris Harry saw Callaway’s performance against Tennessee as a coming out party.

“Come 3:30 on Saturday it’s about that action”.

“Defensively, what can I say?”

The Florida Gators will travel north to Knoxville for a very important SEC match up against the Tennessee Volunteers. Both Florida and Tennessee are 3-0 on the young season and are battling for a spot in the SEC title game later this year.

While Florida has won the last 11 games in this series, Tennessee has been on the doorstep of winning the last two matchups.

Since Jones took over in 2013, Tennessee is 3-13 against ranked opponents. “Can he stand up and carry the football team to Atlanta”.

“We’ve just been motivated to really hold ourselves to a higher standard and just show everybody across the nation that we’re not coming to play any amusing games”, UF linebacker Jarrad Davis said. “And you know, he better go back it up, I guess, whatever he said”.

The scars from previous losses may linger when the Tennessee takes the field against the Gators on Saturday. Heck, even a win wouldn’t mean all that much to you!

There have been some oh-so-close Florida wins-21-20 in Florida’s 2006 national championship season-in this series.

As for the Vols on College GameDay, their record is not too impressive.

When: Saturday, Sept. 24, 3:30 p.m. ET Where: Neyland Stadium, Knoxville, Tenn.

Tennessee’s last victory over Florida came at Neyland Stadium in 2004, when the current players were still in elementary school. “We’ve got to grow a lot on the perimeter part of the (defense) right now”. Jalen Reeves-Maybin has led the Tennessee defense with 18 tackles and 2 tackles for loss, while Cameron Sutton has added 8 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and 1 interception. Quarterback Luke Del Rio is out for this game, so Austin Appleby will be starting under center for the Gators.

Appleby is a transfer from Purdue and he has previous starting experience having started 11 games for the Boilermakers.

Against Ohio, there were no turnovers forced by the defense and the Tennessee offense once again looked extremely average against a MAC defense scoring by only 28 points. The most important thing for Tennessee this weekend is Butch Jones coaching with confidence. “They talk about the SEC being a line of scrimmage league and those guys are really going to have to play well against a good offensive line”.

Hall was a projected started for the Vols at right tackle when he went down midway through preseason camp, and Tennessee offensive line has not appeared to regain the form it closed with last season despite losing only one starter, Kyler Kerbyson.

Dobbs subsequently completed three passes for 33 yards and had an eight-yard run to give the Vols’ another shot. We’ll see. As for now, Shoop needs to unleash a few new wrinkles, be it the teased “Magic Show” or something else, to ensure there is no repeat of past year.

“That hasn’t altered our preparation, but the good thing for them, they have playmakers all over them”. Florida head coach Jim McElwain said on Wednesday’s SEC teleconference that he’d never heard of it either. If you got to watch it, think Appalachian State’s line – only bigger, stronger, and faster.

McElwain was asked on the SEC coaches teleconference if he had ever seen a duck pulling a truck. Doug Dickey served as Tennessee’s head coach from 1964 to 1969, and Tennessee Athletics credits him with reestablishing the Vols’ elite football program.
