Best ever GCSE grades for Vale schools

It’s always great to see so many happy faces, even if some of them looked nervous from the long wait.

“The students receiving their results today are articulate, dedicated and, now, well-qualified and they have been a fantastic group of young people to work with”.

Both maths and English had over 90 per cent of boys achieving top grades and 87 per cent of students achieved at least two science grades at the benchmark A*-C.

Dara Carroll, Principal of the Academy, said: “I am delighted with the attainment of students this year on their GCSEs”.

He said: “I’m very pleased, my results are better than I expected”.

Fifteen students at Skipton Girls’ High School also achieved a clean sweep of A a href=”http://cravenherald.co.uk/search/?search=Settle&topic_id=7607″ class=”local_link” target=”_self” *Settle College.

Justin Edwards, chief executive of Northern Ireland’s awarding organisation, the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA), said: “This year’s results show a steady improvement in A*- C grades”.

Overall, results across the whole range of GCSE and BTEC qualifications has improved compared to a year ago with students’ average point score also improving.

“I am extremely proud of all our students and their achievements”.

The Maelor School have told us their results “are again some of the best in the country”, “Three quarters of all students achieved the important 5A*-C including English and Maths measure’. We are now looking forward to the next phase of Bruntcliffe’s journey when we re-open in September as Bruntcliffe Academy”, she added.
