The wife of the African American man whose death has triggered days of unrest in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Friday released dramatic video footage of the moments before and after he was shot by police.

The police tell Keith to drop a gun, while Rakeyia shouts at him to get out of his auto.
The two-minute video recorded by Scott’s wife, Rakeyia, includes audio of her pleading with officers to hold fire as they confront Scott in a parked vehicle outside a Charlotte apartment complex. “He has no weapon”.
The video does not show the shooting itself, and it does not show whether Scott had a gun, as police have claimed. “He has no weapon, he has no weapon”, Scott’s wife Rakeyia Scott says. Come on out of the vehicle.
For a third night in a row Thursday, protesters chanted “release the video!” as they took to the streets in Charlotte, North Carolina, and called for police to release video of the shooting.
The family initially contended that Scott was carrying a book, but after viewing the police video on Thursday, the family said it was “impossible to discern” what, if anything, Scott was carrying.
Although police won’t release video they recorded, at least one of the officer’s body cameras were working, Putney said.
The video, which was obtained by several media outlets, was filmed by Scott’s wife on September 20.
It also doesn’t appear to show whether or not Scott had a gun.

Then suddenly gunshots can be heard and Rakeyia shouts: “Did you shoot him?”
Scott: “Keith, get out the auto”. City officials said police did not shoot 26-year-old Justin Carr. “I know that much”, she can be heard saying.
“Keith, don’t let them break the windows”.
After the shots are heard, Scott can be seen lying face-down on the ground while his wife repeatedly says “he better live”.
The mayor said she has seen two videos of the incident and agreed there was something in Scott’s hand, but asked whether it was a gun, she said “the visual clarity made those videos inconclusive”.

“He better live. He better live ’cause he didn’t do nothing to them”, she tells the dispatcher.
