The officer leaves behind wife Mikel, 39, and daughter Daphne.
The Shelby police department says the 38-year-old officer, Tim Brackeen, was serving warrants to a 23-year-old man at his home in Shelby on Saturday. The house is believed to be Fenner’s half sister’s, police said.
Brackeen, a Shelby officer, was shot in the chest 12:20 a.m. on Saturday as he was searching for Fenner, who had failed to show up to an August court date for misdemeanor charges of carrying a concealed weapon and marijuana possession, according to the Charlotte Observer. WSOC reports that they are asking police when Fenner will be booked and brought back to North Carolina. They’re accused of providing aid to Fenner in the days after the killing, according to police. “He came out peacefully”.
Call Shelby Police Department at 704-484-6845 with any tips regarding Fenner’s whereabouts.
The police chief told Channel 9 that he was shot in the torso.
The officer from Shelby, North Carolina, was looking for a man named in outstanding warrants.
Maj. Joseph Philbin says the suspect was not at the home. “Tim Brackeen was my family and I hope they nail you”.
Authorities said at a news conference Wednesday afternoon that Fenner was treated at a hospital for a gunshot wound and released.
“There is a bullet behind his rib cage and they are going to leave it there for now”, Philbin explained. “I’ve known him for a long time” Hamrick said.
“Some of them were outside Providence and Warwick, but he had a lot of family up here”, Woods said at a press conference. The police are investigating to determine whether she traveled to the Tar Heel state and helped Fenner flee to Rhode Island.
Fenner still faces charges of attempted murder related to the shooting, as of Monday at 4:45 p.m.
O’Donnell said Jolisa Peeler, 27, of Providence, is Fenner’s half-sister. Hamrick is being held on a $100,00 bond.
Fenner was wanted on armed robbery and kidnapping charges. Both were charged with accessory after the fact of first-degree murder, which is a Class C felony.
Multiple other arrests have been made in the case.
Two occupants of the Coventry apartment where Fenner was found also were arrested and were charged with harboring a fugitive.
Authorities said details about what specifically happened are not complete and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation has been assisting with the investigation.
