Obama to Clinton before presidential debate: ‘Be yourself’

It also marks the first USA presidential debate in history to include a women.

Voters appear to take Republican nominee Donald Trump at his word, and the majority believe that race relations nationwide will suffer as a result of his election to the presidency, according to a new Lincoln Leadership Initiative poll released Friday. (A few of us up in Canada may be feeling the same way.) While planning a debate-watching party, some might also be preparing for the debate itself and might be wondering what presidential debate questions will be asked.

The paper’s editorial board says it’s breaking a almost century-long tradition of backing Republicans and supporting Hillary Clinton instead. He claims NBC’s Lester Holt, the first debate’s moderator, is biased. “But just that people accommodate their questions, and lower the bar of their questions to suit the candidate in front of them and that’s what happened with Trump in the past”. The first debate will be divided into six segments of approximately 15 minutes each, with two segments apiece on these three topics: America’s Direction, Achieving Prosperity and Securing America. The candidates will then have an opportunity to respond to each other.

Here are the ground rules: The Commission on Presidential Debates sets the format for the discussion. Meanwhile, Trump has struggled to win over educated, right-leaning people in white collar jobs.

“Some of the values Trump stands for, his morals, I just can’t get behind”, said Katie Harrington, 20, a junior at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Which Trump will we see? Speaking to millions of voters for the first time, will Trump tone down the rhetoric that caused a number of fellow GOP candidates not to back him?

And Americans are much more likely to say they trust Clinton than Trump to do a better job handling the US image overseas.

Anticipating accusations of lying from his opponent, Mr Trump’s handlers are coaching him to respond measuredly, but he will not simulate a full mock debate.

According to the poll, both Clinton and Trump “overwhelmingly carry” their respective party’s base, but more Democrats support Clinton, 94 percent, than Republicans do Trump, at 87 percent.

Trump has spent the last several weeks asking black Americans for their support and asserting that Obama has failed the black community, but those appeals have been undermined at times.

The subject of Clinton’s use of a private email server was not a central subject of the Democratic Party debates during the primary season.

Trump’s supporters are much more likely than Clinton’s to consider the threat posed by the Islamic State group to be very or extremely important to them personally, 87 percent to 65 percent.
