Chun has a two shot lead after a five under par second round.

Olympic bronze medallist Shanshan Feng and America’s Annie Park are their closest challengers on seven under, while Charley Hull stuttered to a level-par 71 after dropping four shots over the closing stretch.

Dark clouds and thunderstorms could not cast a shadow on In-Gee Chun’s bid to become rookie of the year on the leading women’s golf tour.

“But I just have to stick with my game plan”.

Defending champion Lydia Ko of New Zealand had a awful day, making six bogeys in a 4-over 75, and was 19 shots behind Chun in a tie for 36th. But she does not dwell too much on it.

Two-time major victor Britanny Lincicome matched Chun’s best-of-the-day 66 in a mixed round of nine birdies and four bogeys.

South Korean So Yeon Ryu, who has been remarkably consistent with only one bogey in three rounds – on her 10th hole on Saturday – was seven shots behind Chun in fourth place.

Ko, Ariya Jutanugarn, Brooke Henderson and Brittany Lang are the final four and it won’t be a surprise if all four of those players contend for the win this weekend.

Ko revealed herself to the golfing world at the Evian in 2013, when she finished second as a 16-year-old amateur.

She edged one of the great of the game for the low score after 54 holes at a major championship and broke Annika Sorenstam’s record previously set in 2004. “I’m not going to think about winning”.

Webb missed the cut in her last event in Canada but prior to that tied for fifth at both the Canadian Women’s Open and the Women’s British Open.

ELVERSON, Pa. (AP) – Stewart Hagestad rallied to win U.S. Mid-Amateur title, overcoming a late four-hole deficit and beating Scott Harvey with a 15-foot birdie putt on the first extra hole.

“Before the round, I felt really nervous today. but I could see the putting lines very well and I was so good rolling the ball on those lines”.

The 72-hole record for the women is also 19-under-par, which has been posted on four previous occasions, while the men’s record is 20-under-par, set by Jason Day at the 2015 PGA Championship and Henrik Stenson at the 2016 Open Championship.
