After grabbing Tottenham victor, Kane leaves on crutches

Tottenham Hotspur are awaiting the results of a second scan on Harry Kane’s ankle amid fears the England striker may have sustained ligament damage during the victory against Sunderland on Sunday, an injury that could sideline him for up to two months.

A two-month absence would see Kane miss a string of big Premier League games, including clashes against Manchester City, Leicester City and Arsenal, while the match away at Chelsea on 26 November would also probably be in doubt.

The England striker, 23, was pictured on social media leaving the ground on crutches and with his right foot in a protective boot.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino described it as a “tough twist of his ankle” immediately after the game, with the club waiting for scans on Monday to reveal the extent of the problem. I am happy for him.

“We all agreed after the Monaco game – especially the first half – that we need to bring more energy and maybe more passion”, said Lloris.

Pochettino said the time off the pitch could be used constructively.

“We will assess Moussa Dembele and Eric Dier today and see what happens”.

They are also competing in the Champions League again after a five-year absence, with group-stage matches against CSKA Moscow and Bayer Leverkusen on September 27 and October 18.

Tottenham – who beat Sunderland 1-0 on Sunday – return to Premier League action when they travel to Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon in the English top flight.

“We are a new back four and we’re just getting to know each other still”.

“I told you that we needed to learn and feel that it is a different competition the Premier League and to share the Champions League, and we need to improve”.

“Tottenham are a top-quality side, that is why they finished where they did last season”. Tottenham signed Janssen and built squad depth to handle whatever came their way this season.

“This is why you can’t give a time-frame [for his absence]”, Perez said when asked regarding the reason for a lack of time frame on the recovery, as quoted by the Guardian.

“The most important thing is how you react, and we showed a good reaction”.

Kane's absence is set to affect Tottenham and England in the next few weeks
