Driver caught using mannequin to drive in carpool lane

The offending mannequin is shown in an image released September 22, 2016, by the Brea Police Department. Those who drive alone face a fine of at least $481. Even better, imagine it the moment the driver reportedly explained him the scheme wasn’t new, and he had been using it as a time-saving trick for “quite some time”.

The Orange County Register reports (http://bit.ly/2d5N3Sh ) that Brea police found the mannequin Friday inside a truck on the congested 57 freeway.

When the officer approached the driver’s open window to warn him about being more careful when changing lanes, he then noticed something odd.

The officer wanted to tell the driver to use more caution during a lane change, so he pulled up next to the driver’s open window.

A driver in California has been fined for using a mannequin as a passenger in order to gain access to the vehicle pool lane.

I still don’t get it why drivers prefer to go sit in traffic alone in their vehicle.

His plan was going well until he veered sharply out of the carpool lane, which can only be used by cars carrying more than one person.

The officer with Brea Police snapped a photo of the mannequin and later tweeted two simple words: “Nice try”.
