Vikings’ Adrian Peterson Weighing Recovery Options For Torn Meniscus
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer tells radio station KFXN-FM that running back Adrian Peterson has a torn meniscus in his right knee.

Vikings fans munching on chicken wings got to dine briefly with Adrian Peterson. Adrian Peterson suffered a right knee injury during the 17-14 win and there were some people who were anxious the team might have suffered a serious setback just as it looked like the class of the NFC North. “We’re still going through all the options”.
The Green Bay Packers certainly aren’t about to panic, but they dropped the biggest game on their schedule Sunday night, falling to the Minnesota Vikings 17-14 at U.S. Bank Stadium. Zimmer noted that Peterson’s “heel kind of got planted” and then a Packers defender hit him from the side. The Vikings recorded 5 sacks, forced 4 fumbles (two of which they recovered), and second year corner back Trae Waynes, who had been picked on all night, came up with a huge interception late in the fourth quarter to secure the Vikings win.
The running back was helped off the field and was escorted rather quickly into the locker room.
“We’re going through the evaluation process to try to figure out what the next procedure will be, the options that we have”, Zimmer said.
When asked about their confidence going into Charlotte, Vikings safety Harrison Smith told BringMeTheNews that it’s not any higher than it was prior to slowing Rodgers and the Packers. The Vikings running back is reportedly deciding between a partial fix that will cause him to miss four weeks, or a full fix that will require a four month recovery, according Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson. “Everybody just take ownership of what they have to do, do their job and find a way to execute”.
However, she said that probably was unlikely considering many National Football League players are able to put surgery off until the end of the season on a torn meniscus if they can play through the injury. Here are a few things we learned after week two.
A torn meniscus often calls for several weeks of rehab. Peterson had a devastating left knee injury in 2011 – tearing both his ACL and MCL – only to bounce back and rush for 2,097 yards in the 2012 regular season. To replace Bridgewater, the Vikings sent a first- and a fourth-round draft pick to Philadelphia on September 3 for Sam Bradford.
When asked what the time table for Peterson’ return would be, Fitzgerald Sr. said it depends on Peterson’s pain threshold, but could be out up to six weeks.
That’s still better than where they’ll be if they get bad news this week.
Asiata and McKinnon filled in for Peterson when he missed the final 15 games in 2014 because of a child-abuse incident.

“We’ve been not quite finding our rhythm yet, but we’ve got some guys working in that haven’t worked together a whole lot”, said Rodgers, who went just 20-of-36 for 213 yards Sunday.
