Madison Bumgarner and Yasiel Puig get into altercation, benches clear
Several Los Angeles Dodgers players had taken pictures of themselves in shirts of their own earlier in the day, with their hands over their eyes. Bumgarner was pulled from the game for a pinch-hitter by Bruce Bochy. After a quick replay review, however, the ball was ruled a home run, making Nunez responsible for both of the Giants’ runs in this series. The Giants needed two more innings out of him, but instead he lost his composure and let the team down. That was standard through the first six innings. For not having his dominant stuff, Kershaw performed well overall. Talk about a National League style manufactured run. They exchanged more pleasantries and Puig attempted to meet up with Bumgarner but was restrained by catcher Buster Posey and the home plate umpire.

Puig signed one of those shirts and had it sent to Bumgarner as a joke, according to ESPN’s Marly Rivera.
“On this play to first base, the fellas down on the field tell me that Bumgarner kept saying – hollering I guess – at Puig, ‘Don’t look at me, ‘” Scully said. He last faced them on August 24 in his first start as a member of the Dodgers, allowing five hits in six scoreless innings and picking up the victory in the Dodgers’ 1-0 win. The comeback kids this year, the Dodgers capitalized on the weak Giants bullpen. Hunter Strickland was greeted by a Justin Turner knock that tied the game. Their magic number to win the AL West is now three.
Game 1 is a hard act to follow, but game 2 might be just as exciting. His legend is built on going the extra mile when the Giants need him most, and often times there’s no discussion to be had.
Because despite having the best record in baseball during the first half of the season, the Giants now boast the worst record in the MLB after the All-Star break.
The Dodgers won the game 2-1.
The low-scoring affair featured a pitching duel between Johnny Cueto and Rich Hill. In his first start against LA, he allowed five runs in the first inning. He will prove to be a suitable foe for Cueto. The season series is even at seven games apiece. Said triumph apparently put the Dodgers in a festive mood, as they conspired to make light of Mad Bum’s particular objections via high-fashion menswear. Andrew Toles proved he belongs on the 25-man roster because of his hitting and speed.

The Los Angeles bullpen was strong with lights out performances for Grant Dayton, Pedro Baez, and Joe Blanton who pitched three ideal innings of relief. Kike Hernandez was disappointing in his start Monday, but his versatility may land him a spot. The Tigers were also off, meaning that they dropped another half-game behind the wild card, leaving them at 2.5 back.
