National Football League notes: Vikings’ Peterson faces surgery
Peterson won another National Football League rushing title last year, but he’s 31 now with a contract that might not make financial sense in its current state for the Vikings to carry next year. He was operated by team physician Dr. Chris Larson, who performed Peterson’s procedure.

Coach Mike Zimmer says Floyd had a “cleanup” procedure to address a cartilage issue in his knee that had been causing some discomfort.
“The two guys they have behind Adrian Peterson are two good players”, said Luke Kuechly, the Panthers’ top linebacker.
Peterson, who tore his meniscus when Green Bay Packers linebacker Kyler Fackrell tackled him in the third quarter of the Vikings’ win Sunday night, had surgery to fix his meniscus, rather than an operation to trim the torn cartilage, which might have brought him back in a matter of weeks. “The rehabilitation process will begin immediately”. According to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, Peterson suffered what’s known as a bucket handle tear of the meniscus, and the expected recovery time following surgery is a minimum of three to four months, and could take as long as six months for a full recovery. Rapoport also reported that its possible Peterson returns by December should the Vikings be in a position to make a playoff run. In the meantime, they’ll turn to a trio of backs to fill the void. The other member of that backfield will be Ronnie Hillman, formerly of the Denver Broncos.
Whittaker has started three games since coming into the league as an undrafted rookie in 2012, but ran for 100 yards on 16 carries last week in a 47-26 win over the San Francisco 49ers after Stewart went down in the first quarter. Never once, Fackrell said, did he hear a pop or scream or anything that would indicate Peterson was in pain. “We’re planning on going with what we’ve got”. They’re both good receivers. There are some things we took advantage of with him in the game. He has been a key piece of the Minnesota Vikings offense for many years and would be a valuable asset during the 2016 season.
Bradford completed 22 of 31 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns against Green Bay, with the Vikings often incorporating play actions and faking handoffs to Peterson to increase the width of throwing windows. Surgery on the hip will end Kalil’s season and a streak of 66 consecutive games played that dates back four seasons. “It’s nice to have the options we have with those two guys, and I’d think that we’d try to use them in as many different ways as we can”.
WBTV reached out to the Carolina Panthers asking what the plan was for potentially moving Sunday’s game following unrest in Charlotte. Diggs was not listed on the injury report, meaning he will play on Sunday.

He broke his hand during practice on Wednesday, as someone came down on his hand after he made a catch. “The injury is being further evaluated in order to determine when he will return to play”.
