FBI releases notes from Clinton email investigation

The FBI released Friday almost 200 pages of notes from its investigation of Hillary Clinton’s private email server, just three days before she squares off against Donald Trump in the first presidential debate. When Abedin was shown a 2012 email exchange, she did not recognize the pseudonym – when agents explained it was Obama, she replied, “How is this not classified?” While Clinton has said her use of a private e-mail for work-related business was a mistake, the issue is likely to come up Monday in the first debate between Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, and Republican nominee Donald Trump.

The new schedule would push the release of most of the newly discovered emails past Election Day in what continues to be an ongoing controversy for the Clinton campaign that could linger well into her first term in office if she wins the White House in November.

US Diplomatic Security (DS) “found a classified document from the briefing book in the suite during a sweep following Clinton and Hanley’s departure”.

The documents, released on Friday and cited by ABC News, show that when Clinton was on a trip to Russian Federation while serving as USA secretary of state, her aide brought a classified briefing book into the hotel suite.

Abedin also told the Federal Bureau of Investigation that Clinton’s team had to inform the White House that she was changing her email address so that the president could receive messages from her.

Meanwhile, Clinton’s former chief of staff, Cheryl Mills, and two other staff members were granted immunity deals in exchange for their cooperation in the now-closed FBI investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server as secretary of state, according to Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah).

Clinton, in her interview, said she did not know about key records retention policies and whether she was violating rules.

“At its heart, Clinton’s secret server was an end run around government transparency laws created to hide corruption between the Clinton Foundation and her State Department, an arrangement which ultimately put our national security and sensitive diplomatic efforts at risk”. It is outrageous the State Department has had these new Clinton emails since late July, but has only released 5 records.

Mrs. Clinton’s attorneys turned over roughly 30,000 emails to the State Department in 2014 making up roughly 55,000 pages.

Some clueless Clinton confidantes were even unaware that their boss was communicating with President Obama over the server.

The employee worked for the Platte River Network, which was the company tasked with handling Clinton’s emails after she left the State Department in February 2013.

The additional notes were released three weeks after the FBI released its report from its investigation of Clinton and her emails, as well as the notes from Clinton’s own high-profile interview with federal agents. It’s the second Friday-night document dump in a row for the FBI in this investigation, making their political aim clear – to minimize this as much as possible.
