Edwards wins pole at New Hampshire; 6th top spot of season

Here are four predictions for New Hampshire. “We get a chance to regroup here, which is always nice when you get a reset button”.

Edwards, 37, amped up the No. 19 Comcast Business Toyota to a top speed of 135.453 miles per hour and a lap time of 28.119 seconds to secure the Coors Light Pole Award and the prime slot for tomorrow’s Bad Boy Off Road 300 on the Magic Mile.

This time, the Sprint Cup championship is on the line and every point matters. You can bet team owner Rick Hendrick was calling to find out early this week after the first round of the postseason Chase at Chicagoland Speedway.

In anticipation of the second race of the Sprint Cup Chase, Fantasy NASCAR Expert Brian Polking ranks the top drivers racing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway using Yahoo’s scoring system.

Martin Truex Jr. (78) holds a lead on Kyle Larson (42) during practice for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprin … Once again, his team flexed their muscles at a 1.5 mile venue.

Buescher realized that just making the Chase because of a rain-shortened win at Pocono will stand as the highlight of his season. “There’s a long way to go at that point”. “This is what we needed”. This is the way we wanted to start it off. The aggressive driver moved his way from sixth to second in the final two laps in overtime. Sunoco Rookie of the Year frontrunner Chase Elliott attempts to build momentum off his third-place finish at Chicagoland. That one outlier, though is a 37-place result last fall and keep in mind it can sometimes be feast or starvation for the sport’s defending champ.

Brad Keselowski (Rochester Hills) qualified 11th.

“The cars are great, but it’s not just that”, Edwards said.

“We need to get our Liberty University Tundra fast in practice to make sure we qualify well because track position is pretty important there”. I also appreciate everybody’s hard work this weekend. What we see in July at NHMS, like we have in the past is teams and drivers shedding their poker hands and showing true colors for how strong they’ll be once the playoffs come ’round. Right now this is the one track I really want to win at. In 2013, Truex was removed from the Chase after NASCAR discovered Michael Waltrip Racing manipulated the regular season finale; later that year, Truex lost his ride when sponsor NAPA cut ties with MWR.

Edwards teammate and last New Hampshire race victor Matt Kenseth (No.20) will start in the eighth spot looking for the sweep at the mile track.

Carl Edwards, a fellow Chase driver, backed NASCAR’s decision to reverse course on a points penalty for the drivers. He now sits in the 16th and final spot going in to next weekend’s contest. “That’s nice. It’s nice to know that we’ve got enough horsepower and we’ve got enough downforce and we’ve figured out some setup that can run that fast lap”.

Row 2 will be occupied by two former NHMS winners: Ryan Newman and Jimmie Johnson. Only cars that have both rear tires “skewed” are guaranteed to be declared encumbered and disqualified from advancing in the Chase. I have a lot of motivation here at New Hampshire because we have never won here.

Larson should hope that translates into success in Sunday’s race.
