Spike Lee broke the news that actor Bill Nunn, best known for his role as Radio Raheem in Spike Lee’s hit film, “Do the Right Thing”, has died.
Lee led the charge on social media eulogies, confirming his passing that would dispel the rumors that were circulating within trending topics.
Nunn was the son of a prominent Pittsburgh Steelers scout, also named Bill Nunn, and was briefly a ballboy for the National Football League team.
He has two daughters and two granddaughters. A cause of death has yet to be released. Director Spike Lee announced his passing on Instagram and Pittsburgh-area sources in the theater community and close to Mr. Nunn’s family confirmed it this afternoon. RADIO RAHEEM Is Now RESTING IN POWER. Let me tell you the story of Right Hand, Left Hand. “He had me in mind to do Mister Señor Love Daddy at the time, the DJ character”. He acted opposite Toby Maguire in the “Spiderman” franchise, in “New Jack City” with Wesley Snipes, and in “Sister Act” starring Whoopi Goldberg. Love! These five fingers, they go straight to the soul of man. One hand is always fighting the other hand, and the left hand is kicking much ass. Yea, Boom, it’s a devastating right and Hate is hurt, he’s down. Ooh! Ooh! But if I hate you.Mookie: there it is, Love and Hate. Raheem I love you bruh…

But it is the boombox-wielding character Radio Raheem – who dies at the hands of a police officer – for which he is best remembered. Recently, he appeared in the Spider-Man films. He was most recently seen in the role of Cash on USA Network’s short-lived series Sirens.
