Hillary Clinton delays Charlotte visit at mayor’s request
The editorial – which will appear in print on Sunday, the day before the first presidential debate – emphasizes national security and cites Clinton’s experience as secretary of state in saying she is better qualified to shape USA foreign policy than her GOP challenger. “After further discussion with community leaders, we have made a decision to postpone Sunday’s trip as to not impact the City’s resources”, said Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri.

The Democratic presidential candidate plans to travel to the city on Sunday ahead of her first debate with Donald Trump.
Hillary Clinton has chose to delay a planned Sunday visit to Charlotte after Mayor Jennifer Roberts on Friday urged the presidential candidates to postpone trips, the campaign announced late Friday.
The fatal shooting of Keith Lamont Scott on Tuesday has sparked protests in Charlotte and is the latest incident to fuel a national discussion about lethal police force, particularly against African-Americans.
Roberts said during an interview on CNN Friday night that she would prefer presidential candidate Hillary Clinton delay a trip to Charlotte this weekend that she announced Friday afternoon.
Clinton is calling on the city of Charlotte to publicly release the police video from the Scott shooting.
But The Gray Lady’s endorsement showed how Clinton’s progressive supporters have sometimes been better at making an affirmative case for her candidacy than her own campaign.
Clinton now plans to visit Charlotte on October 2.
Amid increased pressure to do so, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has not yet released dashcam footage of the shooting. “We must ensure justice and work to bridge divides”, Clinton said in a tweet.
Roberts, who has seen all of the videos depicting the event, told Burnett the three clips “have obscured or blurred or it is not precise enough view of what was actually going on”. Police have said he was armed by witnesses say he held only a book.
