Russell Wilson’s injury leaves availability for Rams game in doubt
Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson clearly was not himself after twisting his ankle in the third quarter of Seattle’s season-opening win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, his mobility limited after the Dolphins’ Ndakumong Suh stepped on him.

Wilson’s pain threshold and ability to play through injury and discomfort is becoming legendary around the Seahawks.
“He’s got a little bit of swelling, and he’ll make it through”, Carroll said on 710 ESPN Seattle.
“I think he liked that he got banged a little”, he said. “He’s planning on playing”, coach Pete Carroll said. X-rays are negative, and Carroll said that it’s “nothing really serious”. With just 31 seconds remaining in the game, Wilson found Doug Baldwin on a 2-yard fade for the game-winning touchdown. Seattle is in a tough position here, given that the backup QB is undrafted rookie Trevone Boykin.
A high ankle sprain could limit Wilson and require 2-4 weeks to fully recover. Boykin had his helmet on and was taking snaps with starting center Justin Britt in front of the bench before Wilson popped off the training table to re-enter the game to begin the Seahawks’ next offensive series.
“The one thing about Russell is he wants that feeling, he wants that pressure, so I went up to him personally and told him about it”, explained running back Thomas Rawls.
Seattle needs to take every precaution with Wilson’s bum ankle in the week leading up to Sunday’s date with the Los Angeles Rams.

Even if Wilson ends up playing, fantasy owners should start looking for a Plan B on the waiver wire. Wilson indicated on Twitter on Monday morning that he’ll be ready to go in Week 2. “Just stuff that happens over the course of getting pounded on”, Carroll said.
