NFL, Carolina Panthers May Move Game Due to Charlotte Riots
Police made 44 arrests during the protests Wednesday night and spilling into early Thursday morning.

“They say in this league the more you can do, the better”, Webb said. McCory said he was trying to deploy the National Guard to help quash any violence. “It’s definitely out of control”, Munnerlyn said. Stefon Diggs emerged as Bradford’s favorite target, having an absolute monster game that led the team to victory.
“We are in contact with government officials, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the NFL”, Panthers President Danny Morrison said in a statement.
Panthers coach Ron Rivera, like his players, said he was in favor of the Minnesota game being played Sunday.
The coaches and players want the game to be played.
But before they knew it would be that way, the Panthers expressed a mixture of hope and trepidation about the possibility of gathering 70,000 people on Sunday for a football game.
“And I can’t repeat it enough of just holding people accountable”. And I know what I saw on TV last night is not us. “It’s not the way to solve this problem”.
Traffic is flowing in the area although at least three major companies asked their employees to stay home on Thursday.
Unfortunately, NBA’s Charlotte Hornets were not so lucky, as their official team store at the Spectrum Center was looted after several windows were broken. The building is adjacent to the NASCAR Hall of Fame. “Come up with a solution, come up with ways that allow us to deal with the situation and move forward and get past it all”.
“Our job is to play football”, fullback Mike Tolbert said. I have a Thursday night meeting and it’s on my agenda tonight. “I’m a firm believer of doing the right thing”, Newton said. “We just need people to be held accountable and that’s all”. Just pray for peace.
Tensions surrounding Scott’s shooting are raised in the context of the ongoing protest by San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and other athletes. While some players around the country have joined Kaepernick’s protest, members of the Panthers have not.
The Panthers should anticipate protests Sunday, according to Newton. Kaepernick has been protesting against the oppression of African-Americans and minorities, and police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem.
Panthers quarterback Cam Newton said Wednesday.
The league MVP did have some strong comments Wednesday about social injustice and the African-American community.
“The fact that we do have a situation where people are being hurt – cops, civilians, everybody – that’s definitely an issue”, Vikings cornerback Terence Newman said. We can’t be hypocrites. Police said Scott was an “imminent threat” and carrying a gun, while Scott’s relatives said he was carrying a book.
Police said Scott, 43, was armed getting out of a vehicle and threatened police officers.
