Running Back Has Torn Meniscus

Zimmer noted that Peterson’s “heel kind of got planted” and then a Packers defender hit him from the side. Unable to put any weight on his right leg after the play, Peterson hopped off the field, and soon was taken to the locker room.

The news is bad, but it is not terrible-unless you are Adrian Peterson, who we now have learned has torn meniscus in his right knee.

Just how quickly AP can rebound from a torn meniscus is the big question. He insisted to walk off the field, so trainers carried him through the club, which is the shortest route to the locker room. Knee injuries are tough to recover from.

You’ll likely still be hard pressed to find a Minnesota Vikings fan that has let go of “what could’ve been” had Teddy Bridgewater not been injured, but the way Sam Bradford played last night had to ease some of the pain. He played in Week 2 against the Patriots, gaining 14 yards on five carries while also catching four passes for 31 yards.

The only dark cloud looming over the Minnesota Vikings camp, is the injury to Adrian Peterson and even that comes with a silver lining. Last Wednesday, Packers coach Mike McCarthy said he expected Bradford to start, and it was reported he took all of the first-team snaps that day during practice.

It’s the second time Peterson has suffered a knee injury.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall says his injured left knee is feeling better, and he hopes to play against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. “Guess I just didn’t have it tonight”, Damarious Randall, Packers cornerback said. The running back tore his ACL and MCL towards the end of the season in 2011, but he bounced back in 2012 with an MVP season. It has since been reported that Peterson suffered a torn meniscus and will be undergoing further evaluation.

McKinnon and Asiata combined for 1,108 rushing yards on 277 carries in 2014, when Peterson missed 15 games after being indicted on child injury charges. One of the reasons the Minnesota Vikings didn’t miss Peterson that much is because he struggled during the game.

Speaking of the Lions, they announced Wednesday morning they are putting running back Ameer Abdullah on injured reserve. He will have an MRI Monday, and we’ll know a lot more about his playing status the rest of the season once those results are made public. “You never want to see a guy go down, but it’s going to happen at some point or another”.

Zimmer praised the next men up in the Vikings backfield, Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata, and exuded confidence in both of them. He expects the same from his team following Peterson’s injury. You saw tonight we even mixed in some of the up-tempo that we were doing a year ago in Philadelphia, and I just think being part of this offense if fun, because there is so many different facets of it.

“We’re going to put it on our shoulders and do whatever we can do to put the offense in a good position”, Robison said.
