Maggie Smith asks Jimmy Kimmel to hand over her Emmy

Fellowes spoke at a Bafta event in Los Angeles and made clear that a movie was imminent.

She signed off, “Love, Old Maggie”.

Jimmy promptly snatched the award and told her to pick it up from the lost and found.

Speaking to the DailyMail.co.uk, Michael Fox – who portrayed Andy Parker in the series – confirmed that the 81-year-old actress will reprise her role as Violet Crawley.

It’s fair to stay nobody expected a “Downton Abbey” movie when the show first aired in 2010, but after six incredibly successful series one is sure to happen.

“When her name was announced as victor, he walked on to the stage to take Dame Maggie’s trophy, saying: “No, no, no, no, no”.
