U.S. urges Pakistan, India to resolve issues through diplomacy

Kozhikode: In his fiercest attack on Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the sacrifices of 18 soldiers killed in the Uri terror attack will not go in vain and India will totally isolate Pakistan in the worldwide arena for “exporting terror”.

” All countries in Asia, except one, are working forward to make sure that 21st century belongs to the continent”.

Spokesperson for the White House, Josh Earnest while talking on Pakistan, India relations during press briefing said both the countries should find out solution to their differences on diplomatic level rather than through coercive forces. “You can imagine that our neighbour was successful in one incident, and if they would have succeeded in the other 17 times, what would have happened?” We need to join our hands to defeat terrorism.

“Terrorists should hear out clearly that India will never forget the Uri attack”.

Lashing out at the neighbouring country, he said its leaders used to say that they will fight for 1000 years with India and wondered where they are now.

Modi’s speech in the southern Indian town of Kozhikode was his first since 18 soldiers were killed in an attack on an army base in Indian-controlled Kashmir last Sunday. “You should ask your leaders why they were not able to handle PoK, erstwhile Bangladesh, Pakhtunistan, Gilgit and Balochistan and were trying to mislead you by talking about Kashmir”, Modi said.

Congress on Saturday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “shooting the breeze” on the Uri terror attack in his speech at the BJP meet and said that “verbal belligerence” can never be a substitute for policy and action. Today from here, I want to talk to people of Pakistan directly.

The Prime Minister added that a day would come when the people of Pakistan will go against its own country to fight against terrorism. “Pakistan is aiming for Kashmir. You should ask them why they were not able to handle East Pakistan, and why they can not handle PoK, Gilgit, Sindh, Balochistan and Pakhunistan…?”

The world had acknowledged Pakistan’s vast sacrifices in the war against terrorism and reiterated support to the country, she replied in response to a question.
