Organizers say the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the Alzheimer’s Association’s largest fundraiser of the year. “There are 62,000 Oklahomans who have Alzheimer’s and we can play a role in helping make a difference by advancing research and extending our help and services to those impacted by Alzheimer’s”, said Mark Fried, CEO of the Oklahoma chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Alzheimer’s is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States and tomorrow hundreds of people are coming together to supporr local families that are affected by this disease. Coping with other co-existing health conditions like arthritis, asthma, diabetes, heart disease, mild depression, obesity, cancer and osteoporosis will also be discussed.
The crowd was estimated to be around 8,000 people as well as some happy dogs who came out wearing purple bandannas in support of The Walk To End Alzheimer’s.
Donations will be accepted at the door and proceeds from food and drinks will be donated.
