HUNGARY’S disaster management agency says that two people have been injured in an explosion at a ground-floor shop in downtown Budapest and have been taken to a hospital.

The explosion occurred in Oktogon Square in central Budapest at around 1030 pm local time (2030 GMT) on Saturday.

There were no further comments by police, and it is not clear yet whether the explosion was a terrorist attack or some kind of non-belligerent incident.

The renowned Liszt Academy of Music building nearby was also evacuated, according to local media.

“I am here on holiday and I was here in the hostel across the corner, and I was getting ready for a party”, Polish tourist Olivia Sehildt told Reuters.

Local reports have not yet confirmed the nature of the blast but two people are reported to be injured.
